Running

I was reading an article that said runners are getting injured due to the "rear foot strike pattern" they use (ie heel down first) and suggesting the solution is to get "a supportive running shoe". 

That's a bit like saying the solution to gun violence is for everyone to wear bullet-proof vests. How about removing the guns? How about removing the rear foot strike? Learn to run properly. Develop a flat foot strike just like many indigenous people did because they didn't have access to shoe shops!

The human foot is perfectly designed for running. It doesn't need help from shoe manufacturers. The modern running shoe was only developed in the 1970's and with all its cushioning has only encouraged the rear foot strike.
